A Place for Our Parents was founded in August of 2012 by Sally
Shisler, an experienced care giver with a vision of creating
a compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive service that assists families in
urgent need of guidance during the important early stages of planning for
their aging loved ones' later years in life. Through her own recent
journey, she found a gaping hole in today's assisted living and long-term care planning systems, where there is great demand for people who can patiently give
accurate information and valuable overall wisdom to help ease the inherent
logistical and emotional burdens that come with this confusing territory.
Sally's goal is to provide
families, like hers, with the kind of insight, support and assistance
that she personally yearned for during her own time of need. Gifted with a
caring, sensitive, comforting nature, she has a true
passion to help families who are finding themselves overwhelmed and
discouraged by the myriad of choices and decisions that must be made in
respect to their loved one's future long-term care needs.

With a graduate degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago,
Master of Associated Medical Sciences Program, Sally has led a successful 20
year freelance career in the highly specialized fields of healthcare
publishing and medical legal litigation. Now, as these industries undergo rapid
change, she is setting out to fulfill a more satisfying occupation.
Listed on the professional registry for "One Senior Place" in Altamonte
Springs, Florida, Sally is recognized by experienced
assisted living and long-term-care professionals for the devoted attention she gives to
making certain that residents of long-term care facilities are receiving the expected quality of care that families have faithfully put their trust in.
Acknowledged for her recent successful experience with the Veterans Administration, she has employed her highly skilled knowledge of the lesser known programs offered to WWII and Korean War veterans through the VA, and is eager to impart her
wisdom. "I have a sincere and passionate desire to gain as much assitance as
possible for veterans and their families who gave everything to serve
our country. I want to make an equally valiant effort to help this special
generation of Americans live
life with a degree of respect and dignity that they have so deservedly
Most importantly, Sally is a 'care-giving' daughter, a wife, and
mother of two lovely teenagers (not to mention a beloved, fawned over
canine). When there is any spare time, she works hard on her first love,
which is painting.
